Engineering for manufacturers, from sketch to running line

LAPORTE designs the process, controls, power and building systems behind food, beverage, pharmaceutical, biotech and chemical plants. Our Professional Engineers are licensed in 21 states and work from six US offices, so a project keeps one engineer of record from the concept and basis of design through detailed design, panel build, installation, commissioning and startup.

Our engineers design and build OT and manufacturing networks, from switch and firewall layout through the physical network racks and Purdue-model segmentation. We also design, build, install and commission UL 508A control panels and run the work on a fixed-fee or time-and-materials basis with a project manager assigned to the schedule and budget.

Industries we design for

How a project runs

1
Concept and basis of design
Define scope, process basis and budget with a feasibility review and a clear design basis.
2
Detailed design
P&IDs, electrical drawings, panel schematics and equipment specifications, coordinated across disciplines.
3
Build
UL 508A control panels and network racks, assembled, wired and tested to the drawings.
4
Installation
Field coordination with the contractor through wiring, terminations and point-to-point checks.
5
Commissioning
I/O verification, control-loop tuning, and FAT or SAT execution against the functional spec.
6
Startup
Operator training and on-site support through first production and turnover to the plant.
